- Mix dal & rice, wash it, soak it in water for 1 hour. Strain it, keep aside.
- Take a pressure cooker, add oil or ghee, heat it. Add hing.
- Now add onion, stir fry it until light brown. Add ginger garlic grated, sauté it for a while.
- Add haldi, dhania & red chilli powder, add lil water, stir fry it till oil has oozed out.
- Add salt, mix well. Add all the veggies, stir fry it for a while.
- Now add khichdi, mix it well. Stir fry it for a while.
- Add sugar now, give a stir. Add water accordingly so as to keep the grains separated.
- Place the lid now, give 2 whistles at high flame. Lower the flame now, cook it for 5 minutes.
- Switch off the flame, allow it to depressurise.
- Take out in a serving bowl. Keep aside.
- Now take a pan, add ghee, heat it. Add zeera, let it splutter.
- Now add all the given ingredients one by one, sauté it for a while.
- Pour tadka over the cooked khichdi, mix it while serving.
- Have it with desi ghee, salad, achar, papad, chutney or raita.
