  3. 1 tsp haldi (turmeric)
  4. 1 tsp gud (jaggery)

  8. 1 tsp methi seeds (my secret ingredient)
  9. 2 tsp Jerra (cumin seeds)
  10. 3-4 pods garlic
  11. 1 tsp grated ginger
  12. 2-3 green chillies
  13. 2 whole red chillies broken into pieces
  14. few curry leaves
  15. Few haldi
  16. 2 tsp red chilli powder
  17. 1 pinch salt

Steps to make to make Moong Dal Tadka

  1. Wash and soak yellow moong dal for 30 mins.
  2. Pressure cook dal for 2 whistles, with turmeric, salt and jaggery and 1 1/2 cup water on a medium flame. Let the pressure drop in the cooker naturally. Open the lid and mash the dal.
  3. In a tadka pan, add a dollop of ghee, add Jerra and let it crackle. Add garlic, ginger, green chillies, methi seeds powder, haldi powder, a pinch of salt, curry leaves and red chilli powder.
  4. Pour this tadka over Dal. Enjoy and relish this meal with steamed rice, jeera rice, roti or paratha..
