- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds powder
- 1/8 tsp asafoetida
- 14 tsp coriander seeds powder
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- 2 tbsp. fresh malai
- 2 tbsp butter
Steps to make to make Daal Makhani
- Wash urad and kidney beans in running water 2-3 times and Soak in water for 2-3 hours. Then transfer it in a pressure cooker. Add water, salt and cooking Oil and pressure cook for 10 minutes after first whistle. Switch off the flame. Let pressure releases automatically.
- Peel wash and grate onion, ginger, garlic and tomatoed, chop green chilli.
- Heat oil in a wok. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put asofoetida, cloves, both cardamoms and cinnamon stick. Saute for a minute. Add grated garlic and saute for 1 minute.
- Add grated ginger and saute for 1 minute. Add grated onions and cook till translucent. Now add grated tomato and green chilli and cook on low flame till oil leaves the sides of wok.
- Add red chilli powder, cumin seeds powder and coriander seeds powder and mix well and saute for 1 minute. Mix this tadka in dal cooker and pressure cook till 2-4 whistles. Switch off the flame. Let pressure releases automatically. Open the lid and stir dal thoroughly.
- Transfer it in a serving bowl. Add fresh malai and butter. Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander leaves with meal.
